   MOORE-HANDLEY REPORTS EARNINGS FOR QUARTER ENDING MARCH 31, 1999
   
   BIRMINGHAM, AL...  April 29 - Moore-Handley, Inc.  (NASDAQ - MHCO) a
Birmingham, Alabama based distributor of hardware and home-center products,
announced that sales for the quarter ending March 31, 1999 were
$44,663,000, up 10% from last year and net income was 1 cent per share on
1,870,443 average shares outstanding compared to 3 cents on 1,854,543
shares in 1998.  The company said that gross margin gains were
proportionate to sales but were offset by disproportionately higher
warehouse costs resulting in lower earnings per share.
